Lifestyle Tips

We have some important tips to share on what YOU can do to make your life better!

LEARN MORE!

Learn about your disease - don’t be passive.

This website is a great place to start. If you want to know more, talk to your GI doctor or look at other reputable places online such as  http://crohnsandcolitis.ca

BE ACTIVE

Inactivity is the number one medical problem in kids these days; you have the opportunity to prevent many other medical problems by doing the right things.

EAT WELL

Diet is very important to keep you healthy and active. Talk to your dietitian and check out this section of the website to find out more

TAKE YOUR MEDICATIONS

If you have questions about your meds, talk to your doctor or read this section of the website.

THIS IS NOT YOUR FAULT

Nothing for you to be ashamed about - you should be proud that you are managing and allow this ‘experience’ to make you a stronger person.

TRY TO LIFE A NORMAL LIFE

This is our goal - you may have a condition but together we can control it and allow you to do almost anything.

FEELING DOWN?

Let us know if you are worried about your mental health. Are you anxious? Are things too difficult for you? Are you very sad? We can help you. Contact our clinic and we will talk about it. You can also call Mental Health Help Line at 1-877-303-2642.

THINK POSITIVE

You have the ability to make things better for yourself

COMMUNICATE

It is critical that we know what is going on with you! Let your medical team know if there are any changes; the earlier the better.

GET INVOLVED

BE THE CHAMPION - get involved, become responsible, take initiatives, become a leader. Make something positive from this.

Participate in research

This will help us to help you and others; we hear from many patients that it makes them feel like they are doing something and not just being passive. Find out more about EPIC research HERE.

Help others

Once you feel better it can help patients who were just diagnosed if you support them. Talk to us if you are interested.

Tell the world/your community about IBD

Some kids have arranged activities or fundraisers or have even just spoke to their class about IBD. Talk to us if you want help with this.
